2010 NAST AGM Minutes
for meeting of the 13th November 2010.
- Apologies:
Shawn Rodman, Steve Moxley, John Munday, Dave Jones, Ric Naylor, Scott Price, Martin Holgate, Jerry and Julie from Shakespeare County Raceway
- Vice Chairman’s Report
Barrie thanked Les for all the time and effort he had put into during his time as Chairman and stated that he would be a hard act for anyone to follow. Barrie then went on say that it had been a hard year for many people and numbers were down – not unexpected with the economic problems around – but that some of the racing had been good with some exciting and close races throughout the year. He looked forward to a good year in 2011 with some new racers joining us.
- Secretary and Treasurers Report
- Yvonne noted that membership was down this year but funds were stable as we had no big expenditure in 2010.
- Yvonne was also running the merchandise this year and no additional clothing had been bought.
- For 2011 the merchandise will be managed by Martin Holgate and Jon Lingard so any ideas for new stock lines should be discussed with them. It was also suggested that the Web site and Face book group should list the products available and that they are on sale at every race meeting.
- Technical Report - Steve Johnson and Les Harris raised the following topics and a lively discussion was had by all!
- Lanyards – for 2011
- should not be attached to zips but to wrists or leathers.
- should allow no more that 6 inches of movement for the hand off of the bars.
- should be brightly coloured.
- could be attached to a glove but the glove must fit tightly.
- Noise – there are no noise limits – yet – so the UK Tech Committee are proposing to test bikes during 2011 to establish a limit that will be acceptable to the ACU and other organisations/ countries rather than have limits imposed upon us. Top Fuel bikes are excluded from any limits so to compensate the other bike classes will have noise restrictions applied. Be prepared to assist in any noise testing going on at the tracks.
- Nitro - storage and usage in pits – the authorities are concerned that this fuel could be a significant component in bomb making – therefore make sure that the fuel is stored securely and out of site especially when the team is at the start line or not in the pits.
- Top Fuel bike – cylinder head restraining straps – these will need to conform to SFI labelling and may be mandatory next year – Les and Steve to inform Top Fuel teams on any decisions.
- Nitrous in Top Gas - an animated discussion – Supertwins Technical Committee to look at this during 2011 and have a proposal for the next AGM.
- Chris ‘Shiner’ Golding suggested having a ‘Twins meeting’ at one of the RWYB and getting everyone to advertise this to encourage more members – Committee to think about this.
- Race Leathers - the 75% zip does not have to be attached leather to leather but it must be attached to solid material and not the lining. The scrutineer’s decision is final.
- Election of Officers
- Chair – Barrie Gregory was elected – proposed by Martin Chesworth, seconded by Dawn Watson
- Vice Chair – Bev Batsford was elected – proposed by Nigel Batsford, seconded by Joe Elliott
- Treasurer - Yvonne Mott
- Secretary - Yvonne Mott
- Technical – Steve Johnson

- Any other business
- E.T. Ladders - sportsman vs. pro ladder- Nigel had information from Beth at Shaky and explained the 2 types of ladders – Pro – which is like Wimbledon and Sportsman progressive where the field is split in half so the no 1 in the first half meets the no1 in the second half – please see Nigel for exact details. E.T. has a staggered tree for qualifying at Shakespeare but they have a non-staggered tree for qualifying at Santa Pod. Meeting agreed to find out what trees and what ladders Top Gas run at Santa Pod and to have all NAST classes run this setup at both racetracks.
