Background:
I've been racing for about 12 years now, starting out running some NSA sprint events which ended up with an event win for the 500cc Road Legal class at North Weald in 1998 on my RD400 road bike. Then I got hooked on drag racing thanks to Mick Bubb when I saw his RD400 Gas bike. I built my first bike (an RD400 of course) with a street tyre and entered it in Top Gas coz people got stroppy when RD's went into Modified.
I ran that for 4 years, achieving my best times to date, before selling the chassis over the winter of 2002 and finding myself with no bike in 2003.
The "builder" of my new chassis had bogged of to a job in the USA, so in stepped Mick with an offer to ride his bike. We achieved 3rd place in the Championship and then the following year was the start of a 2 year affair with Shaggy's bike Scooby.
Scooby then got sold and I had to pull my finger out and get my own project back on track.
The next two years were spent crewing full time on Dave Beck's Pro Stock Suzuki; too many cylinders and weird things called valves, but all fantastic experience.
After a long slog, the new bike was finished.
I am and always will be a 2 stroke nutter so obviously the new bike makes a loud noise and smells great!!
(My next bike (already being designed) will naturally be a bigger cc version of this one! )It debuted at the Easter Thunderball in Comp Bike for some shake down runs despite the arctic weather.
Into the 10's on the 2nd and final run of the weekend and I was a happy bunny. All looks good for the 2008 Supertwins Top Gas rounds!
